Before replacing the ballast, it is worth confirming the fault lies with the control module rather than the HID globe itself. The simplest test is to swap the working globe from the opposite headlight into the non-working side. If the light still fails to ignite with a known-good globe installed, the ballast is the cause of the fault and should be replaced.

If your vehicle is displaying a LIN communication fault code (B2205 or B2206), this is a strong indicator that the ballast has failed electronically and must be replaced — a globe swap will not resolve a LIN communication error.
