OEM HID Ballasts, Headlight Control Modules & Igniters
When a factory HID xenon headlight fails, the issue is not always the globe. Often, the fault lies within the OEM HID ballast (also known as a headlight control module) or the high-voltage HID igniter. At Pro Vision Lighting™, we supply premium OEM-grade replacement ballasts and igniters designed to directly replace your failed factory units at a fraction of the dealership price.
Our extensive range covers hundreds of vehicles, including major European, Japanese, and American manufacturers such as BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Volkswagen, Porsche, Ford, Toyota, Lexus, Mazda, Subaru, and Honda. We stock direct cross-reference replacements for all major OEM ballast manufacturers, including Hella, Valeo, Denso, Koito, Mitsubishi Electric, and AL/Bosch.
How to Match Your Replacement HID Ballast
Because HID ballasts are highly specific to the vehicle's electrical architecture, they are not universally interchangeable. The fastest and most accurate way to find your replacement is to match the OEM part number.
- Locate the Part Number: Remove your failed ballast from the headlight assembly. The OEM part number will be printed or stamped on the unit's label.
- Search or Browse: Use our site search or browse the products below to find the matching part number. Many ballasts have multiple cross-reference numbers (e.g., an Audi part number and a Hella part number on the same unit).
- Confirm Visual Fitment: Check the product images to ensure the shape, mounting points, and electrical connectors match your original unit.
If you are unsure which ballast or igniter you need, please contact us with your vehicle details and a photo of your existing unit, and our team will help you find the correct replacement.
Common Signs of a Failing HID Ballast
- Flickering or Strobe Effect: The headlight flickers rapidly before stabilising, or continues to flicker while driving.
- Intermittent Operation: The headlight occasionally fails to turn on, but works fine after restarting the vehicle.
- Delayed Ignition: The headlight takes significantly longer to reach full brightness compared to the other side.
- Complete Failure: The headlight does not turn on at all, even after replacing the HID globe with a known working unit.
Diagnostic Tip: To confirm whether the fault is the globe or the ballast, swap the working globe from the opposite headlight into the non-working side. If the light still fails to ignite, the ballast or igniter is the likely culprit.
