D2R Reflector Headlight Design

D2R HID xenon globes are specifically designed for reflector-style OEM xenon headlights. The shielded burner helps control light output inside the reflector housing, ensuring correct beam pattern and reducing glare for oncoming traffic.

D2R globes are not interchangeable with D2S globes, which are designed for projector-style headlights. Always replace D2R with D2R to maintain correct performance and compatibility with the factory system.

HID Headlight Fault Diagnosis

If your headlight is not illuminating, the fault is not always the globe. OEM HID systems include multiple components such as the globe, ballast, igniter, wiring, relays and fuses, and any of these can cause a failure.

Igniters are configured differently depending on the system. Some are built into the globe, some are integrated into the ballast, and others are separate external units.

The simplest way to identify a faulty component is to swap parts from one side of the vehicle to the other. If the fault follows the globe, the globe is faulty. If the fault remains on the same side, test the ballast and igniter in the same way where applicable.

If the issue does not follow any of these components, the fault may be related to wiring, relays, fuses or the headlight control system. For accurate diagnosis, we recommend inspection by a qualified auto electrician.

D2R globes are designed for reflector headlights and use a shielded burner to control light output. D2S globes are designed for projector headlights and do not use the same shielded design. They are not interchangeable.

Should both globes be replaced at the same time?

You can replace one globe to get back on the road, however replacing both is recommended so brightness and colour match. HID globes fade and change colour over time.
