D5S LED upgrade globes must always be installed as a matched pair. Installing only one globe may cause the HID system to operate incorrectly.

If your D5S headlight is not working, the fault is not always the globe. Check the headlight wiring, connectors, fuses and power supply before replacing the globe.

A simple way to test is to swap the globes from one side of the vehicle to the other. If the fault follows the globe, the globe needs replacing. If the fault stays on the same side, check the vehicle wiring, connector, fuse and power supply.

Do I need to bypass the ballast?

No. Factory D5S globes have the ballast and igniter built directly into the base of the globe itself. Our D5S LED upgrade replicates this all-in-one design, so you simply remove the old globe and plug the new LED globe directly into the factory headlight connector.

What is the difference between D5S and D3S?

D5S is a unique 25W all-in-one system with the ballast built into the globe base. D3S is a 35W system that requires a separate external ballast mounted on the headlight housing. They are completely different and cannot be interchanged.
